Hi! I’m Phoebe.
I’ve been working as a psychologist for the past eight years with children, adolescents and adults who are coming to therapy for a range of different reasons. Sometimes that reason might be a big problem that you need help to manage, be that your mental or physical health, or both. Sometimes that reason can be to understand yourself better and understand how to manage relationships in a way that creates a more meaningful and valuable life. I love working with people on each of these reasons!
The way I see therapy is just as much a case of process as it is content. What I mean by this is that content is the ‘what’ and process is the ‘how’. In my work with clients I try to hold these two things in mind at once: working on what we identify as important from an insight-building or problem-based perspective, while also keeping in mind our therapeutic relationship and how, as a therapist, in working alongside you I can create a safe and judgment-free space to enable growth.
All of that to say is: I want to get to know you beyond the problem that brings you to therapy, and I find that the best way to achieve growth and recovery is by focusing on the ‘how’ as much as the ‘what’. If this sounds like an approach that would work for you, I’d love to hear from you!
As far as my theoretical approach to therapy is concerned (i.e. approaching the ‘what’), I have specific training in several different therapy frameworks - which I’ve detailed in my bio. Broadly speaking I enjoy approaching practice from a schema therapy-informed approach and take a relationship focus with a backing in attachment theory. To deliver a treatment that is best placed to work for you I might draw upon more than one theoretical framework depending on what brings you to therapy. No matter what approach we work through together, humour is a big part of my practice, as is openness and non-judgment.
As an aside, when I’m not working you might find me by the beach, out at a local café enjoying a brunch with my loved ones, or improving my strength and mind-body connection in Pilates.
